HPV Testing and Cervical Screening

HPV (Human papillomavirus) Primary Screening is a method of cervical screening where samples are first tested for HPV. If HPV is found, then the sample is checked for abnormal cells. This approach helps identify individuals at higher risk of cervical cancer more accurately.

For more information, visit the UK government website or the NHS website.

Results:

  • If no HPV is detected, the individual will be screened again in 3 to 5 years (depending on age).
    • If HPV is not found it is highly unlikely that abnormal cells will be present or will cause any problems. This means the risk of developing cervical cancer is very low.
  • If HPV is present, a cytology test will check for abnormal cell changes. If changes are found, a referral for a colposcopy examination will be made. If no changes are detected, another screening will occur in 12 months.

Your appointment:

You'll need to provide consent for how your sample is handled.

Long Term Conditions Review

We offer annual reviews for patients with long-term conditions (e.g., high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma) in their birthday month. Our goal is to provide the best guidance and outcomes by regularly assessing patient needs, particularly for those with multiple conditions. Additional follow-ups may be scheduled based on clinical necessity.

Long term conditions include:

  • Respiratory disease
  • Heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Diabetes
  • Kidney disease
  • High blood pressure
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Epilepsy
  • Mental health issues

Annual reviews help manage these conditions effectively, identify concerns, and empower patients to handle their health confidently between reviews.
